2006 Construction Awareness Program

Information Regarding O’Hare International Airport’s
Nighttime Construction and Maintenance Program for 2006

Under the 2006 Construction Awareness Program, there will only be two airfield projects to impact the preferential runways delineated under the Fly Quiet Program.

• As a result of the rehabilitation project to Runway 4R/22L, Runway 9R/27L will require phased closures for 30 nights beginning in mid-June. The phasing dates for the nighttime closures are pending.
• The displaced threshold project on Runway 14L will require that nighttime closures remain in effect until 10:00 am from May until mid-August.

Fact: Runway 9R-27L is O’Hare’s second longest runway and one of the most utilized nighttime runways. Runway 14R-32L is O’Hare’s longest runway and also one of the most utilized for nighttime operations.
