On June 17, 1997, Mayor Richard M. Daley announced that airlines at
O'Hare International and Midway Airports have agreed to use designated noise abatement flight procedures under the Fly Quiet Program to further reduce the impact of aircraft noise.
Fly Quiet provides comprehensive guidance for pilots to use designated quiet flight and operating procedures developed by the Department of Aviation in cooperation with the O'Hare and Midway Noise Compatibility Commissions, the airlines, and Air
Traffic Controllers.
The following noise mitigation actions are in effect at Midway Airport:
Stage 3 Aircraft
In accordance with with Federal Aviation Administration Regulations, all aircraft flying into and out of Midway since January 1, 2000 meet Stage 3 requirements.
